Today’s Astrology News: Pluto Retrograde in Capricorn
Pluto turns retrograde (meaning that from the perspective of the Earth, it appears to go backward in the sky) in Capricorn today. As you might expect from a planet named for the Greek deity who ruled the underworld, Pluto is concerned with the kind of topics usually not considered too heavy and dark for polite conversation—debts, death and inheritances, issues of power and control, as well as the aspects of sexuality which have more of a compulsive and/or secretive quality.
Where will you feel this shift?
Check your chart to see where 9 through 6 degrees of Capricorn (Pluto’s retrograde path from today through September 18) lie. Within whatever house in your chart Pluto is making its apparent retrograde movement, Plutonian issues may arise. You may have noticed a similarity between that last P word in the previous sentence and another word—plutonium, the explosive element also named for Pluto. Plutonian issues have a destructive potential if kept hidden and buried for too long. This retrograde is an astrology wake-up call for you to pay closer attention and be prepared to delve deeper.
If Pluto moves backwards through your second house of property, you may want to make sure there aren’t any debts you have forgotten. If Pluto’s retrograde movement takes place in your seventh house of partnerships, you may want to make sure there aren’t any unaddressed, simmering issues between yourself and your spouse or business partner. Those who have the early degrees of Capricorn in the fourth house of family may find issues you thought were settled relating to a family inheritance coming up again, or a family secret from the past may influence the present in some way.
Transformation
Pluto may sound scary, but this planet can ultimately have a beneficial influence, having the ability to transmute pain into healing. Sometimes Pluto’s effects are necessary to clear out old toxins buried in a wound. For example, facing those issues between yourself and your spouse and dealing with them honestly may result in a closer relationship. Don’t be scared of Pluto, but do prepare yourself for going a bit deeper in the area of your astrology chart affected by this retrograde. Remember, Pluto has a strong connection to the zodiac sign Scorpio, one of whose symbols is the phoenix, re-born through flames.
